Let’s create a recipe!
There’s a cool tool, which allows you to create small online operations. It’s like having an online butler who does some jobs for you. On ‘IFTTT.com’ you can create a recipe. We’re going to use this for our own matters and the internet will work for us.
Follow-to-Follow-Operation – You automatically follow back
In this case, we’ll use the little framework on IFTTT.com. Please create an account (It’s super duper easy and free, so don’t worry about that) and we’re gonna start immediately.

Are you ready? Let’s go!
Well, there are actually some other cool operations, which you’re able to set up, but we’ll focus on developing a
follow-to-follow-operation:
1. Click on CREATE and after that on this
You’re now choosing the trigger channel. Which action is necessary, so that you’ll get a message, like ‘Hey, something happened!”?
2. Click on TWITTER and on NEW FOLLOWER subsequently.
You’ll have to accept, that ifttt.com wants to create a connection to your twitter account. It’s necessary to accept that, so please do it.
3. Click on that and on TWITTER for the second time.
We’ll now decide, what will happen, when you receive a new follower.
4. Click on ADD USER TO LIST and name it. ‘My followers’ for instance.
5. It’s done! A description isn’t that important.
Get a notification when a specific user tweets something
1. Click on CREATE and after that on this
2. Click on TWITTER and on NEW TWEET BY SPECIFIC USER subsequently.
3. Click on that and on EMAIL.
4. Click on SEND ME AN EMAIL and name it. ‘My followers’ for instance.
Subject: My special user: {{Text}}
Body: @{{UserName}}: {{Text}}<br>
via Twitter {{LinkToTweet}}
5. It’s done!
Share RSS entrys with your twitter account
1. Click on CREATE and after that on this
2. Click on FEED and on NEW FEED ITEM subsequently.
3. Click on that and on TWITTER.
4. Click on POST A TWEET and key in {{EntryTitle}} and {{EntryUrl}} and a short text, if you want.
5. DONE!
Wait! I can’t find the twitter triggger anymore (Update | September, 2012)
You’re right. I recently talked to the people of IFTTT by asking them on twitter, what the hell is going on. Because obviously, there’s no twitter trigger anymore, look at this:

I received an answer some hours ago:

In recent weeks, Twitter has announced policy changes* that will affect how applications and users like yourself can interact with Twitter’s data. As a result of these changes, on September 27th we will be removing all Twitter Triggers, disabling your ability to push tweets to places like email, Evernote and Facebook. All Personal and Shared Recipes using a Twitter Trigger will also be removed. Recipes using Twitter Actions and your ability to post new tweets via IFTTT will continue to work just fine.

Pretty cool recipes. I’d love more posts about twitter. What about automatic unfollowing when they unfollow you? lol.
